A Sri Lankan official letter template (රාජ්ය ලිපි ක්රමවේදය)
Official correspondence in Sri Lanka follows a long-standing format taught in schools and used across government and business: sender block on the top right, date below it, recipient on the left, subject line, formal salutation, numbered body, formal closing, signature block. This template gives you that complete skeleton with bilingual labels in Sinhala and English.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same format used by government departments?
Yes — this is the conventional layout used across Sri Lankan government departments, semi-government bodies, and corporate offices. Different departments may have their own letterhead styles, but the skeleton is the same.
Can I add my organisation's letterhead?
Yes. Drag the letterhead image into the editor — it embeds inline above the sender block. Save as PDF (File → Download as PDF) for the print-ready version.
Can I write the letter only in Sinhala?
Yes. Delete the English placeholders and keep the Sinhala ones — the labels themselves stay legible to Sinhala-only readers. Conversely, an English-only letter is one click of the language toggle away.
